Coach Drew: “Alex is my hard working dependable captain, vocal on the pitch and always comes up big for the team when needed. He’s got 10 Goals/Assists this season playing as a centerback. I have really enjoyed getting to coach him so far.” Coach Jordan: “Selah had the game taken away from her through season ending injury last year, and despite that she found a way back to the game. The amount of work she put in off the field for her to come back lead us in goal scoring as if she never left. She’s the definition of when you don’t cheat the game the game will be good to you back. Welcome Home, Ted Colburn! Athens United is proud to announce the return of Ted Colburn to the Athens area as our new Academy Director. Ted, a 1993 graduate of the University of Georgia, has been involved in youth soccer in Georgia for decades, most recently at NASA/Tophat. He brings a wealth of expertise and knowledge to our organization. “Today is an exciting day for Athens United and youth soccer in our community,” Jason Lockhart, Athens United Sporting Director said. “My objective since becoming involved with this club was to secure the finest coaching talent possible, and I believe Ted’s hiring is a testament to that goal. From over 20 years of knowing Ted and his players, I believe there are few better in this country at developing young talent than him. Ted joining our team and community is a monumental step forward for soccer in the Classic City.”

Martin has been with the club for over a decade and has served in numerous roles during his tenure. “Martin has been an invaluable member of our organization for many years,” Jason Lockhart, Athens United Sporting Director said. “He constantly displays the passion and determination necessary to engage the local soccer community in all facets.
